Physics Studies Work Package
Coordinators: Patrizia Azzi, Jorge de Blas, David d’Enterria, Matthew McCullough, Michele Selvaggi

Mandate:

The Physics Studies Work Package supports and encourages a community of experimentalists and theorists who can commit resources (mostly human) to the development of the FCC science program in the coming years.
The goals are, in particular:
- to document the findings in a detailed note accompanying the pre-TDR report (to be delivered to the CERN Council in September 2027);
- to articulate the physics case, feasibility, and schedule implications of the different stages of the project (not limited to the currently proposed stages);
- to gather the worldwide theory community to address the theoretical challenges and provide new conceptual solutions to implement and interpret the experimental measurements;
- to define and implement strategies to match the experimental and theoretical uncertainties to the projected statistical precision.
Organisation:
The Physics Studies Work Package is built on the previous Physics Programme and Physics Performance work packages, now merged into a single unified entity. The new structure is organised around physics groups covering the full FCC physics landscape, including new responsibilities at the physics–software interface (MC event generation, precision calculations, and high-level reconstruction). More details on this reorganisation can be found in the 2026 FCC Physics Meeting plenary session: FCC Physics Studies Work Package Plan & Vision.
The 12 Physics Study Groups are lead by Convenors, whose complete list is given in the ORGANISATION page.
Mailing lists, e-groups and guidelines on how to use them are given at the bottom of the ORGANISATION page.
